Turning the Tide: Investing in Wastewater Infrastructure to Create Jobs and Solve the Sewage Crisis in the Great Lakes

More than 25 million people rely on the Great Lakes for drinking water, but communities continue to dump billions of gallons of untreated sewage every year into these freshwater seas. This report highlights five cities—Buffalo, Cleveland, Detroit, Gary, Ind., and Milwaukee—facing the challenge of crumbling wastewater infrastructure while lacking the funding to fully fix the problem. Congress needs to step up and partner with cities around the region to fund these critical projects.
