Great Lakes Coalition Opposes Trump Roll-back of Clean Water Protections

‘With many of our cities and towns living with unsafe drinking water, now is not the time to cut back on clean water enforcement.’ANN ARBOR, MICH. (September 12, 2019)—The Trump Administration today finalized its repeal of clean water protections for at-risk streams and wetlands that feed into drinking water supplies for millions of people in the Great Lakes states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. The Healing Our Waters-Great Lakes Coalition strongly opposes the move.“We strongly oppose the Trump Administration’s attempt to weaken clean water protections,” said Laura Rubin, director for the Healing Our Waters-Great Lakes Coalition. “With many of our cities and towns living with unsafe drinking water, now is not the time to cut back on clean water enforcement. We need more – not less – protection for clean water. The federal government needs to step up its efforts to protect our drinking water, not scale back the rules for polluters.
