Dear Administrator Jackson:

We are writing on behalf of the Healing Our Waters©-Great Lakes Coalition (HOW Coalition) to urge you to consider several key issues on the role of science in support of the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) program. Given limited budgets, we need to ensure that investments in restoration and protection are based on the best possible science and that there is a program to assess progress at scales appropriate for this massive undertaking. Much of this has been addressed in the recent GLRI review by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Science Advisory Board (SAB Report), and we provide comments in support of the most important key actions…
