This submission comes to us from Izek in Warsaw, Ohio, who is entering in the children’s category.
My Dad took me and my two sisters and three cousins fishing at Lake Erie. My cousins had never been fishing before. My dad is a good fisherman, so he helped us all. He said 6 poles and 6 kids was more than one man could handle, so we used 2 poles and took turns catching fish. We all caught fish and my cousins where really excited to see the fish and to catch them. We caught bluegill, white bass, small mouth bass, perch and fresh water drums. The fish where really biting and it kept us really busy, but I think my dad was the busiest. I caught a really big drum but he cut the line off on the rocks, my dad said he saw a name tag that read MOBY on the side of him, but I think he was just kidding. We fished with worms and the container said these worms are guaranteed to catch or die trying. We all thought that was pretty funny. We caught so many fish, and big ones too, that my fishing barely has any drag left in it. My dad said that MOBY must have stripped the gears. That’s OK because I had alot of fun trying to catch him and my dad has more rods and reals and he said he will let me use one. My cousin Ethan is four and he squealed like a girl every time he caught a fish, then he would touch them and then taste his finger, it was funny and kind of gross at the same time. If you would like to have a successful fishing trip, you should try the breaker wall at East Harbor State Park on Lake Erie. It’s a great place to fish on a great lake.
Thanks for the great story, Izek!
