Good news to report: Sen. Richard Durbin today signed up to be a co-sponsor of S. 791 — the Great Lakes Collaboration Implementation Act of 2007 — a bill that tackles in a comprehensive way the restoration of the lakes. It seeks to prevent invasive species introductions and halt sewage contamination, among other things. The bill is solid.
As overheard in conservation circles: “Can’t hurt to have the second in command of the Senate majority on this
bill.”
Right on.
Durbin joins the following Senators who have signed on to the bill, which is sponsored by Sen. Carl Levin (MI):
Sen. Sherrod Brown (OH)
Sen. Norm Coleman (MN)
Sen. Barack Obama (IL)
Sen. Robert Casey, Jr. (PA)
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (NY)
Sen. Charles E. Schumer (NY)
Sen. Debbie Stabenow, Debbie (MI)
Sen. George Voinovich, (OH)
