Coalition partners are hosting a Great Lakes restoration tour in Milwaukee, Wis., August 10, which will showcase successful restoration efforts in southeastern Wisconsin. Attendees will be able to see how restoration efforts have transformed urban blight along the Milwaukee River into a riverfront park, and how a former golf course is being turned into a bird sanctuary.
The tour will also highlight ongoing restoration needs and opportunities, with a particular focus on the economic and ecological benefits of the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative.
The tour starts at 9 am at Urban Ecology Center, 1500 East Park Place, Milwaukee. The tour concludes at 4 pm. Food and transportation will be provided.
Attendees will also hear from conservation leaders from Gathering Waters Conservancy, Urban Ecology Center, River Revitalization Foundation, Ozaukee Washington Land Trust, Southeastern Wisconsin Watersheds Trust, The Conservation Fund, Rotary Club of Milwaukee, Ozaukee County, Healing Our Waters-Great Lakes Coalition.
The tour is being led by the Gathering Waters Conservancy, Healing Our Waters-Great Lakes Coalition, River Revitalization Foundation, Urban Ecology Center and Ozaukee Washington Land Trust.
