The Environmental Protection Agency has just announced $8.5 million in available funding for green infrastructure in the largest cities on the Great Lakes shore. Eligible cities could use some of the grant funding to cover projects that would install rain gardens, bioswales, green rooftops, porous pavement, and constructed wetlands.
The funding is available to shoreline cities that meet population requirements:
- Population between 50,000 and 99,999 would be eligible for up to $250,000
- Population between 100,000 and 499,999 would be eligible for up to $500,000
- Population 500,000 and above would be eligible for up to $1,000,000
