Rep. Stupak (D-MI) announced yesterday that he will be co-chairing a new bi-partisan Congressional Water Caucus. Stupak also sits on the Great Lakes Task Force – a caucus of Great Lakes Representatives and Senators. Unlike many members of Congress who talk a good game about the Great Lakes but don’t actually do much, Stupak has been committed to action. Most notably, he led the federal effort to ban oil and gas drilling under the Great Lakes.
In his press release, Stupak says, “This caucus will provide another forum for me to fight to protect our Great Lakes, which are so vital to the lifestyle, recreation and economy of northern Michigan.”
